Disappointmen!

Good, Yummy, Sushi

First, I'd like to apologize to my faithful readers for my absence from this blog for so long. I just haven't had a good or bad food thing to write about, and I haven't been cooking. Now I'm back, I'll try not to let this absence happen again.

OK, tonight I revisited the Japanese Restaurant I wrote about quite a while ago, Osaka, and while good, it wasn't as good. I was a little disappointed. I'm sorry Betsy, if you read this (she went with me and treated).

First I was late arriving, so part of this is my fault. Second, Betsy had already ordered, which was fine since she ordered what we both like, Crunchy Roll and Spider Roll, both with good things in them, and very flavorful. She had also ordered fried rice, which I don't love. This was good enough but it was fried rice. Me, I like steamed rice, jasmine or brown rice are my favorites. This fried rice was cooked quite well, but hadn't the flavor I expected, and to me fried rice is Chinese, not Japanese, so...

The salad, was again delicious, fresh and well dressed, I enjoyed it very much. The green tea which I loved, adored and worshiped almost, the first time I ate at Osaka, wasn't as good, it didn't taste like the freshly made green tea that I'd had last time. That was sad. I mourn for that flavorful and wonderful tea, I hope next time I go there they will be back to their standard.

My other disappointment was the flavor of the spider roll, last time it had a sauce in it that was somewhat creamy but had a slight horseradish flavor to it, not much but slight, this time, that sauce was either missing or not as good, I'm not sure which, I have the left overs, so I'll dissect them tomorrow and find out..

Will I go back, of course. Just because things weren't perfect, or quite as good as I remember doesn't mean I'll write it off, heck it was still a very good meal, but I'm dying to try some other things on the menu. I'm curious to see what they do with tuna, and how the tuna sushi tastes here, and some of the other goodies.

I'll keep you posted. Tomorrow, Mustard, that wonderful, flavorful, and sometimes overly bright condiment.
