How to cook basmati rice perfectly

When I first started cooking the first thing I learnt was to make a perfectly cooked rice.Still while making variety rice recipies[like lemon rice,tomato rice,pulaos]if I do not measure exactly,then it becomes a sticky rice which is not a justice for my cooking.

I am writing this for people who use a pressure pan/cooker.

Plain white rice:
For 1 cup of basmati rice-add exactly 3 cups of water for making a plain white rice for any curry.And if you are using gas for cooking ,let it blow 3 whistles and stop the cooker.If you are using an electric mode,let it blow just 2 whistles and turn off the heat, as the remaining heat of the electric coil itself is enough for cooking the rest of the time.


For pulao/variety rice:
Wash the rice and keep it aside just before cooking.Do not soak it in water for a long time.And fry the necessary ingredients in the cooker,fry the rice along with the mixture and add just 2 cups of water for 1 cup of rice.Close the lid only when the cooking rice mixture and water are in the same level.This is very important to get a fluffy but well cooked rice.Then let it blow just 2 whistles in a gas cooking and 1 whistle in electric coil cooking and turn off the heat.Once it cools completely,open it and stir it once to avoid overcooking of the bottom most part of rice.Garnish and close the lid again with the whistle on until it is ready to serve.

Making variety rice will be my next recipe which will explain the second part of this section I guess.Let me try taking some pictures too.
